ART OF AFRICA GALLERY
It was during the Covid-19 pandemic that the ACF decided to initiate a new type of call for proposals entitled “Solidarity Fund for African Artists and Cultural Organizations” (SOFACO).
The main objective of SOFACO is to strengthen the resilience capacity of artists and cultural organizations through support for the creation and reconstruction of the artistic sector’s social fabric in Africa in the face of the COVID-19 crisis.
Thus, in May 2020, the ACF launched the SOFACO call for proposals batch no.1: Special Covid-19/Individual artists.
At its closing in June 2020, 120 grantees from 40 African countries and from all artistic disciplines were selected to each receive a grant of US$2,000.
