The African Culture Fund is an idea whose time has come…

The African Culture Fund is an initiative that defends a continent’s desire to write new narratives and take its rightful place on the world stage through the voice of its unique culture.

This new concept of the African Culture Fund is the initiative of the artists and cultural actors of the Continent who understood the issue and felt the time to move towards the empowerment of the African cultural and creative sector. The Fund’s challenge is to be able to support the various professionalization needs of the sector, at all levels of the value chain of the various sectors of the cultural and creative sector, vectors of economic, social and human development.

Thus, responding to the common will of artists, cultural actors and financial partners, the creation of the African Culture Fund is an essential project which not only intervenes in the context of the African cultural renaissance with the aim to mobilizing first the African resources for the professionalisation of the cultural sector, but also to contribute, beyond the objective of stimulating artistic creation, production and dissemination, to socio-economic development and the promotion of cultural rights, to the freedom of expression and cultural diversity.

The Fund aims to contribute to writing and establishing new narratives of positive social change and transformation in Africa through creative and innovative projects that it funds.

On this occasion, I would like to thank the artists, cultural actors and partners for their trust and support to the African Culture Fund.
